Mission
The Chinese Language Center of Tajen University operates under the International Foundation Program. Established with the mission of promoting the internationalization of Chinese language education, the Center integrates academic excellence with the rich local culture of Pingtung to provide international students with comprehensive, diverse, and high-quality Chinese language learning opportunities.
Guided by the core value, "At Tajen, We Are Family," the Center is committed to excellence in Chinese language instruction, cultural exchange, and international engagement. It strives to cultivate globally competent learners with strong Chinese language proficiency and intercultural communication skills.
Our curriculum covers beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels of Chinese and follows the Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL) proficiency framework to ensure systematic and effective learning. In addition to general Chinese language courses, the Center actively develops Chinese for Specific Purposes (CSP) programs, including Chinese for Electrical and Plumbing Technology, Tourism Chinese, Hospitality Chinese, and Business Chinese. These specialized courses enable students to apply Chinese effectively in authentic professional settings while enhancing their career readiness and competitiveness.
To enrich students' learning experiences, the Center leverages Pingtung's multicultural heritage and abundant local resources by offering immersive cultural programs, such as Indigenous cultural exploration, agricultural visits, local festival experiences, and hospitality-related activities. Through language partner programs and intercultural exchange events, students are encouraged to build meaningful connections, adapt smoothly to life in Taiwan, and gain a deeper appreciation of Taiwan's diverse cultural landscape.

Short-term Goals
The Center will focus on successfully implementing the Ministry of Education's New Southbound International Programs and other specialized international programs. It will continue to enhance its curriculum, strengthen faculty development, establish a multilingual official website, and develop digital marketing platforms to increase the Center's international visibility.
Medium-term Goals
The Center aims to strengthen the International Foundation Program (1+4 Program) by expanding interdisciplinary Chinese for Specific Purposes courses and developing online learning platforms. It will also deepen collaboration with the Chinese Language Center of National Pingtung University through joint faculty development, shared teaching resources, cultural promotion, and academic seminars, thereby establishing a Chinese language education alliance in Southern Taiwan.
Long-term Vision
The Center aspires to become one of the leading Chinese language education centers in Southern Taiwan. By promoting Taiwan's Chinese language education model internationally and establishing strategic partnerships with renowned universities, cultural institutions, and overseas Chinese language centers, the Center seeks to build the "Tajen Chinese" brand into an internationally recognized and sustainable model of excellence in Chinese language education.
